I process arb waste, decent stuff but it's large rings mainly that cant be chipped.

I'm using a petrol horizontal log splitter that does a good job but I can't help thinking that I could make life easier and quicker with a screw type splitter off the Pto on my tractor.

Do many of you use one,had one, or know any reason why I shouldnt invest in one?

Great splitters but you need to know how to use them or it will end in tears. If you employ somone to process the wood dont let them use it!!! Just keep the bulk of the log to the right of the cone and that will stop logs flipping over and belting/trapping your hand. Like anything connected to a running PTO dont get caught in it and if its being used for work it all needs to be fully guarded unless you want to meet theHSE in court!!!!

there good on old hard dry logs, where the screw can bite and crack the log apart, not good on green/soft timber which is long grained as it does not split cleanly. can be very productive on the right timber. logs will only flip or spin if not presented correctly and thats when you get squashed fingers
