I've just checked my picture with the pictures on the net and it looks like i may be onto a winner here. The pictures match on all fronts. And the description of the fungi matches also.

From your pictures alone, I'm 99 % sure it's Agrocybe rivulosa, so the question now is how to properly identify and register the species and in what official herbarium a specimen should be conserved.

Some of my latest offerings.

 

1,2,3 - Apple that fell over in the winds. Xylaria polymorpha present at base.

4,5,6 -Alder with G.australe

7,8,9,10 - Collybia fusipes on roadside oak that has Honey fungus and G resinaceum working against it also.

11,12,13,14 - Unknown fungi growing under Beech avenue

15,16 - Unknown fungi growing in butress of 200 year old Beech

17 -Unknown fungi growing in between butresses of 200 year old Beech

18,19 - Unknown fungi growing between butresses of 200 year old Beech

20 - Yellow Brain fungus Tremella mesenterica

21,22,23,24 - Unknown fungi growing between butresses of 200 year old beech

2/4 : are you sure it's on elder, because this looks like Agrocybe cylindracea (= A. aegerita), that is (this far) restricted to poplar and willow.

5/8 : Bjerkandera adusta too.

Yup was on Elder. Look at the top picture on the right with the stem and bark.
