Taken 31/08/2011

 

Pics 1,2,3,4,5+6 - Phellinus sp on a very unhappy Blackthorn soon to be removed as roots are interferring with a culvert.

Pics 7,8,+9 -Leopard Earthball (Scleroderma areolatum) growing under small yet mature Oaks on an area of chalk heath.

Pics 10+11 - Monster Parasol Mushroom

Pics 12+13 - Unknown fungi growing on Hawthorn stump. The stump also has a very very healthy crop of Honey fungus that appears around November.

as for the fruiting of honey, will probably have been a panic fruit as the stump is no longer viable, they tend to fruit as a panic response as they get about very well via rhizomorphs generaly. This is true because if armillaria which is everywhere at almost all times was to fruit in the usual way we would see fruits far more than we do as it is.

28/29/30/31 : Laccaria laccata ?

32/33/34/35 : Lepiota species ?

48/49 : Gomphidius roseus.

52/53/54 : Abortiporus biennis.

55/56 : Agaricus species.
