No they didnt......in those days it was much more them and us.......that sort of music never really made it into the charts. By about '92 there were commercialised versions of this genre coming into the mainstream, and soon the clubs themselves started cateing for the masses so it was possible to hear tunes in clubs, then maybe 6 months later, watered down chart versions of those tunes would apppear too. A famous example is this, although it hit the charts year after the original tune....

and here's the awful commercial version that came out with vocals added to maki it saleable to the masses.....
