How would the Belgians like us to do this to their war memorials?

How shocking is this. They are moving one of our war memorials to build a bigger port.:sneaky2:

BBC News - Village in uproar as Belgian war memorial relocated

I'm really peeved at this.

Those boys died saving that sodding place, and now they just decide that they are to be moved so Mr Belgian can make some more money? They don't deserve to be rescued.

No respect.

What's the issue? They are not disrespecting those who gave their lives. They are just moving a memorial.. It makes no difference to the people the memorial was made for, so why should we mind. Either way, nothing will stand in the way of progress.. :)

I'm sure the majoraty of Belgians respect our war memorials, but occasionally things like this have to happen, the world changes. Time marches on. Iv'e been all around the war graves in Belgian and france and have never seen any vandalism on any of them. Take a look around any of them and you can't help but feel moved and emotional. Went round Bayeaux war cemetry once and it's huge. Someone had left flowers on one british grave saying 'to a father I never knew' and it still moves me when I think of that.

I think all of theschool kids today should be made to go round the cemetries. It might just make them think what their grandparents and great grandparents went through for us all.

I note that the workmen started under the cover of darkness 'so they could make an early start'. Also why are they not letting anyone see the centrepiece of the memorial which is in storage so its condition can be verified.

There are volunteers here in Belgium that keep the war graves in good shape for free ! There is still a lot of respect for the boys who came to the war and gave their life to help us, no doubt about that !!!
