I know its an old thread but possibly thinking of buying a Bedford TM - would it be possible to mount the crane at the back of the bed instead of behind the cab as most people in the pictures have done. The thinking behind this is it would then be possible to load a trailer as well.

Was that repairing the windscreens after pulling the people out Dean:001_smile:

The DAF 45 is looking favourite at the moment if we can find a double hydraulic pump to run off the pto outlet to power the crane. Saw a tipper today that had an Edbro single pump installed but would need a double for the Epsilon.

Quite right about the bedford brakes being sharp..... immediately after a cold start...... about 1982 in Magilligan camp/ranges, Albert the MT sergant asked in something of a panic "can anyone drive a Bedford".........& being a young keen, willing to volunteer farmboy I of course replied in the affirmitive.

Well I could drive her 100%, except for that first stop at the road end:blushing:

When I returned to camp wor Albert was positively apoplexic and demand to know why I claimed to drive when I did not have the appropriate licence.

I simply replied that he had not asked if anyone had a licence, and I COULD drive her, as per his stated request.

(which was before someone grassed me up for the slightly sudden stop):laugh1:

But I digress.:001_tt2:
