Chainsaw sharpener

Looking to buy a chainsaw sharpener, got reasonably good at doing it myself with a file but fed-up of slicing my finger !! Anyone know of a good one? Got several saws, and seem to be spending longer and longer sharpening chains when time could be used more profitably. Advice please?

if your only concern is cutting your fingers then i would suggest one of the following:

 

a) wear gloves

 

b) improve your technique so you dont slip, or

 

c) tough it out until your fingers have so much scar tissue that they just bounce off the blade!

 

sorry probably not much help, its a good old fashion file for me so dont know any sharpeners to recomend. best of luck.

If I kept cutting my finger I wouldn't say I was reasonably good at filing1

 

Wear gloves I have never cut my fingers while sharpening my chain.

 

Never used any devises so just my unhelpful comments will have to do!

Have a look at mower magics website- chainsaw grinder with automatic chain advancement - you can see the video of it working, bit pricey though at £120, seen the same one cheaper on e-bay. Thinking about getting one myself

but not sure of build quality,also using it on every sharpen might shorten life on chain?

Cheers S.Gal thought everyone on here was old school for a minute! Everyone i know uses a file, but had actually looked on mower magics website and was wondering how good they are. Take your point about life of chain. Anyone on here actually have a sharpener, and what do they think to them?

i think a machine takes to much off the chain your chain will last longer using a file buy a guide also dont for get to file the small teeth on your chain with a flat file always make sure they are lower than the main teeth good luck

use a file getting a machine is just lazy
