I feel sorry to hear that, Hama. He're in Belgium, we've been down that road already and now are desperately trying to get back, with small 'forest reserves'. It's a pity to see history repeat itself, only in a different country.

Thanks Tom, and everyone who has taken the time to say something:001_cool:

as an arboriculturis, ecologist/mycologist as whatever you want to asign to me as a label, i can tell you one thing that is 100% garaunteed. There is nowhere i have been in england that has the quality, nor quantity of deadwood and diverse habitats as whippendell. of all the woods to be protected on this island, this is of prime example, this is not just a sad loss, this is an outragous middle finger to conservation.

conservation is a joke.

Man i'm gutted to.....for you Tony but for all the reasons listed already. Having witnessed first hand Whippendall woods with you I know how close to your heart the place is. I saw with my own eyes the rich and diverse landscape that it is.......it felt magical in there. I also know from your threads how much it has taught you. Keep on fighting them in the beeches mate. Dont give up. Do everything you can to find out the whys and the hows.:001_smile:
