Rupe, when I am descending, I take the ropeguide out before getting to the deck if I think it's going to get caught, and then just drop off over a limb old school. I have had it stuck twice in the first week, and I don't want it happening again lol. It's only handy for ascending anyway :)

I've had mine stuck a few times (old type), as others have said leaving it slack and picking your fork carefully, as well as planning your exit are all important.

But why does it always get stuck at the worst possible time in the worst place.

Yes, that is what i have been doing, and generally getting away with it. My ropeguide will fail a loler inpsection so I need to get a new one. I had a homemade one before but its still up a tree somewhere in gloucestershire! Will get it back one day and the pulley might be usable!!

Anyway, I could make a new one, I have a cocoon and a pinto in the post and some bits of tat lying around but I can't splice yet. Was just wondering if the 2010 version was an answer to the problems. If not then its home made bodge it style again!!

i made my own mate

Would you like to make me one too? XX

I have pulleys and slings etc. I just need a long length of something with a big loop in one end and a tiny one the other end. Do you also put rubber hose over the big loop to keep it open or wire inside?

Rupe, I have yet to get my homemade RG stuck yet. Been climbing on it for about 3 weeks now. Not got it stuck yet but I must admit if it looks like it may then I usually retrieve whilst I still up there.

That looks like the way forward! Is that a sirrus loop? What length do you need to get the three wrap prussik? Will the shorter one do it?
