The nesting season is going out the window I think (with pigeons anyway) I seen pigeon chicks as late as November and we seen some in a conifer early feb this year and they looked not far off leaving the nest! We also attended a course lately regarding wildlife and pleading ignorant to nests etc doesn't wash no more so I would just stop work it's not worth it.

Funny ol' thing. I saw a Blackbird feeding its chicks on a trip to London last Feb outside the Tate & Lyle building being airwashed from the aircon outlet (warm air) so I contacted the BTO (Carl Barrimore) to find out what is going on. His answer was that more and more birds like Pigeons, Blackbirds and Thrush are losing their natural breeding season due to microclimates being generated by the city life. A bird perched on a lamp-post with a permanent light on has a ready made incubator for example. So we will definitely start to see more birds taking advantage of our 'urban waste' in this way. Clever huh?

i had to restrict works yesterday, laurel coming out and a conifer to be cut in half, was seeing and hearing doves, pigeons and sparrows in and aorund it all day, so i dropped some of the price, explained to the customer and said ill be back in september! They were absolutely fine with it, his words 'its the law, you cant do much about it' which i agreed!
