Never felled Hemlock. I find the Orange or Yellow tinted safety glasses make working in the dark dark woods that much easier as you can see.

Good tip cheers :thumbup1:

I've tried yellow and agree - the problem I found was them steaming up or getting sweat dripping on them when snedding.

Toothpaste. When I did a lot of clay shooting and had to wear them thats what we used to smear on the inside, then wipe it off and they wont get soaked in sweat.

Thinned out some over sized hemlock last week 2 1/2'-3' diameter, each tree was taking about 45-60 minutes to fell and sned, due to large flares that needed trimming, knocking in four wedges on the leaning trees, and vast quantities of brash that was tangled up in Laural.

Dont worry its all finished now! Spent about 6 days cutting out that laural, lovely stuff.

Had my first day today in normal 50-60ft 40year old hardwood where I've cut 20 tonne. Nearly bloody killed me, but excellent fun. Nothing really hanging and quite substantially stacked too.

Call me the sawminator! :thumbup1:

Next time i am going to look where you go and work as close as i dare:001_rolleyes: I spent most of my day hanging a lot and clearing my brash off the track:sneaky2:

Still got 12 tonne though:thumbup1:

Spend long enough in the woods and you know to pick your stands! :laugh1:

12 tonnes is damned solid given the trees and relative greenness to production thinning. I fear that once you get a smaller saw and learn to eat I may be chasing you!

This is true. You aren't the first, nor will you be the last that wouldn't believe how much I ate until you saw the medium sized cool bag stuffed with food I bring to work each day. Thank God for my wife, who seems to have a part time job in just feeding me.

You'll be pleased to know that Tesco are now doing home deliveries for fuel for the heavy petrol user, so you needed worry about worrying out of 2 stroke at lunch with that guzzler!

ok you got me on the petrol consumption:blushing: it would just feel strange using one of those kiddies saws without a strop attached to it and hanging from my harness:laugh:

Anyway better stop derailing this thread or we will get our wrists slapped:001_rolleyes:
