Ascending on spiderjack2

Alright guys? Just recently bought a spiderjack and just fiddling about getting used to it.Now i can see how descending and branch walking etc will work nicely with a little practice and patience, its ascending i think i'll have more trouble getting used to.Not used to the hand over hand technique as im used to blakes or prussic.Im finding it harder on my arms/elbows than previously (the reason i changed to sj was to make it easier on my aching bones).

So what is your favoured method of ascent using the spiderjack? Thanks

Cheers Deer man.So how would that work do you pull the rope from underneath rather than above the sj? And would you then once you,ve reached final anchor point remove the sling to work around the tree? Forgive my ignorance:001_rolleyes:

I'm doing that with my Machocan or VT now on ascents with no limbs for a good poke. Find being able to take a wrap of rope below the hitch and good all pelvic thrusting is easier on the arms sometimes.

Tom D put a vid up of the use of a sling for ascents, I recall.

Will any cambium saver do the job Bob? The rope guide looks a tad pricey

all about friction

all work just some are better and nicer and smoother and shinier

If you struggle to get to grips with it pop over for a quick climb
