Contact some local woodturning clubs (found via Google) and tell them about it. Be aware that the lower trunk tends to be of little interest due to the small size of the eyes and large size of the stem. They are what's left from the first branches to grow and hence drop off when the tree was relatively young.

Good luck.

Hi the going rate for a large MP tree is about £150. The problem is your location and collection from North Wales. I have 3 trees in stock waiting for the black staining (spalting) to start which takes normally 8months to 2 years before it is at its best.

I will ask a couple of guys I know for cost to collect and deliver to me at High Wycombe Bucks and get back to you asap.

Hi if you are happy cutting up Monkey Puzzle wood for firewood then fine.

I am biased as I am a craftsmen but personally find it sad when good wood is wasted, used properly it can last a lot longer than it ever would standing and believe burning it is outrageous.

You will see Monley puzzle in the back row numbers 5,6, 8 & 12 from left to right.

I note that you got more than £150 cutting up a tree for firewood but what I didnt say was that I also throw a bowl into the deal once the wood is dried and thats worth another £350 + on top of the £150 maximum for the tree. Perhaps your load of firewood was not then so good after all.

Keep your wig on mate , the tree was sold as fire wood because we had tried to GIVE the tree away to carvers and they al either wanted it delivering for free as well or simply coule not be arsed to do anything with my offer . as a last ditch idea i got tommer in to plank the last 20 foot . i really could not care less that i only got £150 from it in fire wood - at least the people buying the firewood made a use for it that clearly the wood turners felt was beneath them .
