Unfortunately we ringed the lot, errr anyone want to buy some spikey logs?

Rings are OK for the turners, they make bowls out of them with knot running round the out side.

From what I remember they were knocking out kiln dried 12"x 2.5" puzzle bowl blanks for £15 at a craft fair and 16"x4" for £20 upwards

Money to be made if you find the right market.

How do you dry the blanks or discs without them splitting like someones cut a portion of cake out of them.

I had to cut 100 discs for someone and the only way I got them not to split was to stack them so they dried slowly

Normally if you ring the bits up fresh from being cut the wood dries too quick and your stuffed. Best to seal the ends in longer lengths leave for a yr or so then log em up.

If the logs are fresh cover them over with plenty of old carpet to keep the humidity up so they dont shrink too quickly and keep your fingers crossed.

I tend to cover blanks with waterproof pva glue to slow the drying down evan more.
