Normally if you ring the bits up fresh from being cut the wood dries too quick and your stuffed. Best to seal the ends in longer lengths leave for a yr or so then log em up.

If the logs are fresh cover them over with plenty of old carpet to keep the humidity up so they dont shrink too quickly and keep your fingers crossed.

I tend to cover blanks with waterproof pva glue to slow the drying down evan more.
