At around 3mins Taylor shows some ideas for the ringloop. I'm sure there are plenty of other great uses.

cut a v in the top of the pole and put the normal cambium saver into it, so simple! BUT it is something elss shiny that will impress the 1ns that dont fully understand our ways....

Just to clarify, the thing he uses to choke the line is a multisling. The ring loop goes on about the friction hitch to add friction to allow single line descent and re-ascent using 3;1 mechanical advantage. So you could still use the running bowline and a long tail to choke. It just isn't as easily adjustable that way. I like the idea of being cinched on the spar rather than just having my rope looped round it.

no need to sound big headed, but most of us would have got up there cut it down and gone home by the time he fannys around with that piece of crap, why doesnt he just climb a little higher and use the branch? :S
