Interesting every branch is rigged so no one is in danger period and for 2-3 cuts im hardly going to give them a written warning that's overkill !. But i appreciate that's how you do things.

I believe i one handed once or twice in this edit lol which as im sure you know is allowed as part of cs39 training, but of course you know :001_tt2:

Regarding the pollard, this is the first stage of a complete removal again this is not my spec this is from a structural engineer whom i would not even pretend to know more than so there is no point me talking about that :thumbup1:

I take no offence mate like i said this is not my spec we are employed to carry out tree surgery as our customers instruct, Our videos are to show our professional ability to remove large trees over houses and conservatory's which we do very well, we have a very happy customer and some very happy neighbours, my teamed worked efficiently and we don't break things.

I just makes sure im covered just in case something un expected happens.

Once or twice but not as the explanation states "when normal work position cannot be achieved" (joking around)

Your are right to an extend mate i just allow my guys a little slack when i know there perfectly safe, Sometimes when rigging there lids fall off i cant always watch everything :)

I wont lie i will never stop one hand use as i feel sometimes its a much safer option than trying to get into dangerous positions to use two hands, an remember my life is far more important than me being lazy i make sure when using the saw with one hand i account for kick back, chain snatch, and make sure my grip is accurate, my head is out of the kick back zone and touch wood :001_tt2: in 10 years i have never had an incident.

But its a pleasure to discuss these things with you im not a know all im a learn as much as you can and make your own mind up :D

We are in the risk limitation business, its an inherently risky job and we all have an individual method which i hope serves each person well :)

Your very right, your life and identification of risk is going to be better than someone talking from a book on a simple situation. Very true, its good to get feedback and things other spot. I've learnt a few techniques too. :thumbup1:

not having a dig, but if productivity really is that important and you dont always have that time to achieve a good work position why not leave your camera at home? that would save you abit of time, whats more important putting videos on youtube or getting back to your family in one piece. just my opinion, and dont get me wrong i use a saw one handed when i need to but i wont put it in a video purely because it looks unprofessional if you could of used both hands, and il be the first to hold up my hands and say im in the wrong if i get pulled up on it. stay safe !

Well,as you say its a staged removal, then I guess that it was a subsidence/structural issue that has led to the demise of this tree. However, your use of the word pollard is incorrect.this is not a pollard.please don't think I'm being pedantic, but if you are using this video to promote your work,it would probably be sensible to label it correctly.I.e..part one of a staged removal or some such.pollarding,as I'm sure you must know is not topping.this is topping.with regards to your grounds man not wearing a helmet, there is simply no excuse.no matter how safe you think you are being, you cant account for a slip up.one small mistake could result in a lot of upset.all the best with the rest of the removal.just out of interest, what is the time scale involved?

Mate to continue about one handed use is pointless you just stated you do it yourself and it was a single branch in this video that i one handed this a waste of typing imo.

To say its unprofessional makes me die of laughter i watch you tube videos of the best tree surgeons in our country do it, i can guarantee there is not a single tree surgeon on earth that does or has not done it and im using a camera because its wifi remote very quick and easy to use lol.

how ever your have a point but i think you misunderstood mine, i dont use a saw one handed for any other reason than it makes my job easier, safer and faster im not talking bout every cut im talking about the cuts that are very difficult to reach with two hands.

For example today on the latest job we did for me to balance on a weak branch above a conservatory with very poor footing due to branch pattern it would be very dangerous for me to use two hands, as soon as the branch drops if it knocks me ill slip where as with one hand tending my rope i can stabilise my footing and account for any shock load caused from knocking as the cut branch drops.

I hope we have cleared that up and you have been educated. :001_tt2:
