but the other trees are a fair bit away and not as tall.

Personally i did not think they were close enough especially with the branch going over the shed

Thoughts quip

No access for crane IMO narrow access and a muddy paddock

I thought it was the same tree but as I remember the adjacent tree looked like a good option and there was grass not mud, a crawler crane might be an option but it would need to be a “big un” for the reach and I know my mates 22RB wont fit.

I have climbed worse but not many.

under weather conditions it is tested too its unlikely youll test a tree more, if its standing and alive it is very very unlikely to fail on you as long as you dont act like a jerk in it.

Get your point and maybe sometimes i am a little too cautious.....but is it not possible that under certain weather conditions (especially the last it was subjected to) that it could have been weakened even more and then the climber is the tipping point (especially if rigging).? I'd have thought with a tree like this get up it.....get the weight off as quick as poss (dropped into the river) and get down.......have a man in the river/stream to fish it out......why stay in the tree and rig any longer than is necessary?
