If there's enough space I'd chose to cut and chuck into the stream then put some waders on and get in there. I wouldn't feel comfortable rigging on that one unless it was really small bits which you might as well cut and chuck.

i was working close to there when it was really windy the other week, if its still standing it must be ok, there was a beech in the same ditch(i imagine) behind the new appartments that i'd be more worried about:thumbup:

We've recently fetched some big timbers up a river banking with a Tirfor. There are probably easier ways but it did the job and safer than going up and down the banking
