What are you thinking of planking, the Oak or the bloke.

 

Have you tested it to see if its hollow, I would guess the first 2 mtrs will be full of nails etc so you may as well start logging that bit.

I could get my Peterson mill up to it.

 

But I could use a few more details like where it is? how soon would it need to be milled? Does it need to be paid for and if so how much are they looking.

 

With the way it's fallen there's prob decay in it but that doesn't mean the timber is no use.

That would be a criminal waste to turn into logs....Theres any amount of log wood from trees coming down all the time, and we are importing tonnes and tonnes of foreign oak into the UK! Take Rob D up on his offer!

How can you plank that? I've got a job helping someone next week that is an oak dismantle that's 7 feet across dbh. Chainsaw mill? Or band saw?
