just found loler cert, it ran out few weeks ago. im not contacting hse. im not seeking legal advice. i am just warning you all to ckeck your strops. i will try to get pictures up when i can. the strop has done a fair bit but i only use it when spiking poles so not everyday.:001_smile:

When you post the pictures could you also tell us when the last LOLER inspection was done and if you could also tell us if there were any notes written about your lanyard on the inspection sheet? Thanks.

I find it very hard to beleive that this could have happened under normal working conditions over a period of a few years. Even if you often put away your kit wet and left it id be surprised if it could rust right through, each wire in these strops is galvanised.

 

I suspect that at some time during its life your strop has come into contact with either a strong corrosive such as battery acid or a concentrated salt such as "amcide" or a nitrogen fertilizer.
