can fully understand where your coming from rupe, but say for instant the dmm was the same price as the isc i think i know which way the vote would go. and i think there sales would do alot better, like you say rupe it is a lot of money to be used just as much as your average legendary isc block anyway.

There is no doubt that they are lovely. I think the price is a major factor, if they were the same as the isc ones and I was starting out i would probably buy just the DMM ones. But at the same time I do like the simple ropbustness of the isc ones and all their stuff. Like you say "legendary"!

I have four ISC blocks, and its rare to use more than three, but to go out and buy three DMMS (one large and two small) would be a big outlay. I think maybe the combination of both is a winner though, and select the right pulley for the job in hand. I really like the DMM one, but all it does it let a rope run through it. I dont think they are worth getting excited over, ooh ahh isn't it shiny!

Maybe one day a psychologist will write a thesis on arbs and their need for shiny kit! I'm as guilty as the next but I keep my sceptical wits about me too!

Ive got an ISC and the DMM. They both do the same thing. I need to worry slightly more about the 'sharper' edges on the ISC but could that then lead to complacency with set up when using DMM's?

I'm with Rupe in thinking that two ISC are better than one DMM.

Having said that, we work very hard, and to splash out on a luxury is fine but I would do it with something I use a lot and has real advantage as well as the feel good factor.

Finally, the DMM won't earn you more money than the ISC.

Did you buy all that kit especially for that job?

There must be more gear there than the job was worth.

If I did those kinds of jobs all the time, then investing in all the gear would be worthwhile, but since they only come up once a year (if that) then I find it is more cost effective to say, cut and chuck into the garden and employ 2 extra groundies to throw it over the fence. (Not saying that is what you should have done, just an example)
