Is it just me and my work m8... or is this a little strange??

me and my work mate today were sent to raise an oak on a private job.

nothing different about it what soever, customer showed and explained what we wanted etc...

 

so far so good...

but then to me and my mates amazement, the customer said dont do the finishing cut because the chainsaw will '' tear '' the bark and the tree will not heal over, so the customer then said, leave approx 1 foot foot pegs, and he will do the finishing cut with his hand saw????

 

is it just me or is that a little bit different? after all, me and my mate being tree surgeons, what do we know about finishing cuts!!! lol...

 

but at least we got a cup of tea, 1 biscuit each and £2 tip each!!

I work for loads of folk that know far more about trees than i ever will, i am just there to do the monkey work they can't do themselves. What did the customer do for a living?

 

nothing employment wise.. was at least 70years old.. so how he will do those finishing cuts on his own is beyound us!
