Was wondering what the largest inch PTO chipper that will run well on say a 1750 or a 2450 Unimog on 3-point linkage not towable. Saw that 20inch Heizohack that was towable, but want to know the largest with standard unimog set up i.e. chipbox, 3pl. Just interested to know.

well,

U17## = ~170HP DIN at the flywheel & ~144.5HP to ~153HP at the PTO stub.

U21## = ~ 210HP DIN at the flywheel & ~178.5HP to ~189HP at the PTO stub.

a U24## = ~ 240HP DIN at the flywheel & ~204HP to ~216HP at the PTO stub.

i would prob think it would be a premier 550

Would have to agree. Standard 550ZX weighs in at 1800kgs. There are machines with same capacity but lighter in weight and build. Anything over 140hp and the 550ZX is awesome. Better than any equivalent chipper i have ever seen used. I love watching peoples faces the first time they put a bit of wood in. As mastercard would say " priceless".

Big chippers on the arse end of a unimog are a bad idea to much weight over the rear axle. Then when it's full off chip off we go sailing !

Bandit 250xp 12 x 20" capacity or Farmi 380CH 14 x 18" capacity. Both much bigger and badder than a schliesing, even the 880 schliesing.

Or go for Conehead drum, Model 510 18 x 28" capacity.

I used to drive a 1750 long wheelbase mog with a 12" bandit on the front, it was a pig at junctions as even with the chute closed it stuck out about 2 - 2.5m. Also when empty if you had to brake hard the back wheels would come off the floor, like 4 foot off the floor! When full of chip it was very hard to steer at low speed and impossible when stationary, the ps just was'nt strong enough.

Great chipper though.
