I think really what we should be talking about is species that do not belong in a particular habitat, the knotweed is probably controlled in its native region by organisms that evolved alongside it.

same with all the other pains spoken of here, so i would not want to "extinct" any of these, ivy, elder, sycamore are all part of our eco system and frankly belong.

The old Celtic maple does get a hard time!

There was a time when the monkey puzzle was the most desirable tree in england, and widely planted, thankfully now way overpriced to be so desirable!

I am in some agreement with the eradication of the human animal, but only in so much as those that no longer live as nature intended, may the meek indeed inherit the earth.

Very Gaia-esque response hama and completely warranted IMHO.

We belong to all that nature is and never the opposite :)

So on that cliche I`d like to abolish this eczema thats started growing on my legs?

With you on all points, except IVY. Horrible stuff, can so no good reason for it. (anticipating an educational response lol). Not only, would I wish it extinct, if I can ever figure out a way to make it ACTUALLY extinct it's a goner. :devil-smiley-017:

an educated reply? mmm

how about that it is simply awsome habitat for many thousands of animals/inverts, from bats to hibernating moths and butterflies, the berries providing a food source for birds and the flowers being of obvious importance too.

Pretty much what I was expecting and a fair point. Thankfully I am far from clever enough to come up with a way of getting rid of it, cos if I could....

Only time I get really angry climbing is when a tree is buried in the stuff. Reckon they'd adapt :001_tt2:
