right... had a little 'disagreement' at work today (good ole friendly banter:blushing:) and it was brought up by most of my colleagues that thinning was far better than reduce (its all they ever do!!).

 

Now i was quite inclined to disagree and told them so, stated that IMO reducing was a better technique (i'm on about mature trees) in the long run IF any work had to be done on it at all, leaving it being the best option...

 

they couldn't see it, that reducing was better...

 

now, my question.. to try to teach these heathens:lol: is there any evidence/journals/research/papers out there in tree land stating the reductions are better for maturer trees??

 

it would be great if i could stick one on em (in the professional sense of course ahem:blushing::lol:)
