Yew timber- value

Tried to search but forum says yew is too short a word

 

I have a few yews of varying size to take down. I also have a dozen big rounds.

 

What's the best market for this timber? I'll give eBay a go selling the branches to wood turners, but what about the larger rounds and a ten foot 16" diameter butt?

The 10' butt will be of interest to sawmills. The rest is probably worth what the equivalent firewood is worth, unless you dry and wax it ready for turning, then you may get around £10/ cubic foot.

Funny thing is that I milled a couple of beautiful yew trees about 9 months back. Stunning boards, up to 24 inches wide. I've been sat on the bulk of them since then, despite selling them for not a huge amount of money. Seems that there isn't a huge demand for yew, which is a shame given it's stunning beauty.

i buy what i can find if it cheap that is a bit to far away i have about 2tonne at the min and always looking for more

you can try english woodlands at cocking nr midhurst for the sawlog

Palletised transport doesn't cost that much for slabs, if you are interested in buying any. I really do have some very wide and clear boards.

I cant keep it in stock for any length of time- yew seems to fly out the door before its even properly dry!!
