Today i went to visit the retired gamekeeper in hospital he is 81 as wise as they come. he got me thinking how short life is, he said do things you enjoy so fellow arbtalkers enjoy working on and with trees and remember make each day count.:001_smile:

the old boys right david,dunno your age,guessing your thirtysomething,i'm 37 and had similar advice a few years ago from a terminally ill colleague,his words still drive me on now,no substitute for experience,good post,steve

reminds me of the pink floyd song 'time',i do have to say that if your life seems to be passing you by, its because your living it to the full and are content with your lot,dont take any regrets with you wether you die at 50 or 100

Too true, i think a lot of us fall into the trap of living in the moment and blinkered by our suroundings. Obviously we all have commitments, but as the saying goes "your a long time dead" Its only when we get to our mature years do we wish we'd probably taken a few more opportunities!

Is it just me or what, why do we/I always think the good old days were better, were they better? I honestly think they were! things were harder etc money was tighter, but i'm sure we were happier, slightly off topic sorry to de-rail

memory is selective,halcyon days when a gallon of 2 stroke was 2 quid (1989)and a pint was less than a quid,it was relative,i bought my first new saw on tick then,pay cash now(but admittedly drink less beer!)

what what what a pint was less than a quid? some people dont realise how short life is until its too late.

 

be thankful u wake up every morning and can look forward to another day.
