Is ivy poisonous?

A quick question. As the title says, is common ivy (Hedera helix) poisonous? I've tipped some chipped ivy and spread it near a field with horses in, and have now been told its poisonous for them. The information I can find seems to suggest that the berries are a problem if eaten in large quantities. I suspect they are getting confused with poison ivy or even ground ivy. Does anyone know different? Thanks.

Yeah, I did Google it and saw that list, but other sites said it was poisonous. So I thought I'd ask Arbtalkers, seems there's no definite answer, Traditional Loggers says it is.I guess there's lots of plants that if eaten in large quantities are going to be toxic to some extent.
