employer and ppe

The employer has to ensure that employees have PPE. Does not mean they have to provide it for you. It can come out of an allowance. So the agency pay £5 an hour to a labourer and £8 per hour to you cos you bring your PPE.

(those are just examples of course)

And also, you are being contracted in, not employed directly by the agency. They are looking to provide the council with a chainsaw operator with PPE for x amount an hour, do you want the work or not?

thanks rupe

a straight honest answer,with no abuse:thumbup1:

only stating what was the response from talking ti HSE?

You have been offered work - just bloody do it and stop complaining!!

Why is no one satisfied these days with work, people always want more. You may well find that the council have spare boots and trousers but they may be cheap examples that have been worn by previous employees, if you have got your own wear them and create the impression of a willing, prepared, hard working person.

This country is on it's backside because too many people can't find the right job so do nothing but claim the dole or get and job a whine the hours are wrong, the pay is wrong, mr smith down the road gets this but i don't.

i am not complaining, just stating a fact! that was explained to me by hse,an employer has to supply ppe.

like you say the council will provide most prob, cheap examples and my own gear is comfy, warm and a bit more expensive and i will wear it

when i am subbing,i am out there no complaints, just do the job and a good job, working all day soaked through to the underpants and prob change 3 times, dont get the wrong impressions of me regarding 1 thread

i work in my local area for myself and do ok,the customers are always happy and i have return work year after year, and get more new customers every year, dont get me wrong i never turn down any work.its just quiet at moment.

the company i sometimes sub for, when they have work in region, they always give me a call to work for them, the boss said to me one day after i had worked for them on many occasions "martyn we;ve been through 800 welsh idiots and you are the cream of the crop" that made me feel proud:001_cool:

i work for a LA via and agency, i was asked to use my own kit and PPE and get an allowance of an extra .25p per hour for using my own kit, i have never once complained, i've got on with the job, and in the future hope to be taken on.

If i went around demanding PPE be bought for me i'm sure they'd be on the phone to the agency asking for the next bloke!

If its only for a short period i suggest you use your own stuff and although you may get a bit of wear and tear, i'm sure it would benefit you in the long run
