This is my transit . It took about 4 long days to build and is made of chequer plate which has been reversed.

 

I had to cut the body down to fit the tool box . It is completely removable and could be fitted on to another van with a few adjustments .

 

Please excuse the ***** bit of rope holding the ladders i lost the ladder bracket . I have alos had the paint job redone since .

hiya , where did you get you ally planking from ? only asking as i need to build some back doors and a foor for my mog

 

i got the alloy planking from service metals Service Metals Group-Europes leading Aluminium and steel profiles supplier

 

I collected it from the stoke dept they were really helpful, measured my truck up and made sure i had everything i needed.

I'll show you mine if..........

 

It's aluminium-I could have saved a bit of money if I hadn't rushed into it and was able to approach these things with some ability.

 

I had capes removed and a frame built to save on weight.

 

One change I will be making is to add a cover to the top of the tipper.

An extra 20 mins every day blowing all the dust that has escaped out of the back is a pain and the roof of the cab always ends up covered in chips.

 

No point in having a good van if it's always filthy.

Bentonarb thats a nice looking truck. i was thinking a box like yours but out of aluminium.

 

what yea transit is that?

 

 

Its an 04 plate transit. The tool box was a lot of work as i had to cut the tipping bed and make up a frame .

 

It takes up a lot of potential chip space but fully loaded the van is overweight .

 

The body is suprisingly light as two people can lift it on and off.

 

I wont be building another one thought as it takes to long . My iveco has just gone off to southern bodys to have the high sides etc fitted .

Now that looks a very nice truck, and something Im thinking of building as my next truck. I assume its a 3.5tonner?

 

One VERY important question to me though, what does it weigh empty?

I've got the same truck with a ali back like yours but the sides arnt angled down to the tail gate. I've found that if I tip the body up when I start to chip it doesnt spray over the cab, and the bottom of the bed at the back nearly touches the ball hitch coupling and prevents the chipper from being removed without the body being lowered first :thumbup1:
