most believe that 5days is to short.

can you tell me, when you went on site - how many stumps did you level? as a practice for saw handling.

yeah, there is a lot to fit in in 5 days and even some of the assessors and trainers agree.....

keep at it, be calm, concentrate, be safe and good luck

I think we've done enough practice on CS30 for handling...

I was also felling slightly higher leaving me some room to practice on the remaining stump.

I found 5 days plenty to learn the saw and how to fell tree's up to 15". They teach you three cuts, and when you're cutting 10-15 trees a day that is plenty to learn each cut. Obviously the longer the course the better but 5 days was sufficient enough for the 4 of us on the course to all pass first time with no problems what so ever.... Just my opinion though.:thumbup::001_tt2:

idealy you should have cut, 30 to 40 discs from stumps, the 45 degree is the natural balance of the saw from the handle, your body postion is most probably out, you will need someone to walk around as you cut to work out the error.

it can be something as simple as an elbow or a knee.

just book yourself in for cs32, and get as much done as you can on the course, even if you fail - it will have given you another 3 days experience of a far greater course.

ha ha OK I will! Anyone wanting to pay my fees? :001_tt2:

I'm OK with the gob. It's the back cut that I'm not getting right. It's either to high/low or all other the place!

I'm gonna ask my instructor to watch me tomorrow until I do the whole tree. It's always easier for someone else to see your mistakes than your own.

Cheers

Use the chainsaw to score a line around the tree level with the mouth. This will act as you guide when cutting the back cut.

I failed due to the fact ,That i became all too serious and it become a must do task,Failure was not an option,Thats why i did. Good luck

I failed my driving test for that very reason so I know how it works...Mental failure = practical failure..

Good luck tomorrow! Dont rush anything, remember its just a test to see if you have understood the techniques and know how to perform the various tasks in a safe manner. ITS NOT ABOUT COMERCIAL SPEED.

Im retaking all my units over the next couple of weeks due to a change in company policy....:001_rolleyes: They are paying for me to take the NPTC-units i already got, because they want me to be able to show a swedish proficiency certificate!

Looking forward... always good to go back to basics....

Remember....HAVE FUN and ENJOY! It just makes things easier and releases pressure. Dont forget to TALK to the assessor as it gives you an opportunity to show him that you know your stuff in theory....

Back in the days when I did my climbing unit my assessor fell asleep in the grass, I think he knew I would pass....
