Total cost to date no more than £250, have different wheel sizes to inter-change for varying applications, can be used for planting, (which is why I originally built it) skidding logs, or bunching/skidding large bundles of brash, oh and probably a score of other things I havent even thought of. I even lifted a large snapped off limb out of a tree with it once, made a tricky job simple!!

i would go with a honda or kawasaki grizzly.... i`ve used most of them but the grizzly 450cc was wicked ! i used it in some really rough areas(in and around forests, bogs moving trees and stakes for planting) it never skipped a beat. i would shop about and get some out on demo. you could also try a kawasaki mule

Ok made a few mods to the crane, prolly nearly there now!! Put a brace in, welded the frame up, added a tow-hitch, changed the wheels for low pressure/shock absorbtion, trying to make it do more and more tasks. and the last 2 pics are transporting logs from a churchyard, and towing out a bunch of yew.

Nice trailer i like that alot.

One idea i have !

is the axle width wide enough for the quad to fit between ? If this was the case you could put clip on ramps on the trailer drive the quad onto it and tow the lot down the road behind your truck!

As most ATV trailers do this gives you a way of getting ATV and trailer to site in one go.

then all you need to do is get hold of a small honda engine hyraulic pump and change over valve and all could be used with the push of a lever1

Stoxs, I like your thinking there, I mean this project was originally to do one job simply and safely, but its growing into a monster. Will look into that one, ta!:thumbup1:
