rigging to pull over trees

have a look on pro climber for an assisted fell kit , this system is used for assisted felling when working in proximity to powerlines , it is verry effective , quick to set up and simple to use - should cost you roughly £260 ish . if you cant find anythin pm me and i can post some pics of the system we use . hope this is of use to you

 

seems alot of gear. you can just use a rope and a ratchet strap.

you can get or pull on a rope by putting in a truckers hitch one that a few ties havent heard of a kanter knot/hicth before ? have used a ratchet strap before when stuck trouble is with a rope and ratchet strap you only have so much you can get on the ratchet then you cant pull any more

Thats an idea

use it to tie down loads

Never used it to pull down trees though- Hmm'... must try it

If the knot referred to is what I think it is (lorry driver's hitch, trucker's hitch, dogleg) it does work: my CS31 instructor used it to get an entire tree down that was lying horizontal 10' off the ground after one of us felled in the wrong direction. (On that occasion it wasn't me).

just watched truckers hitch on youtube!

 

i didnt know what was called, been using it for over 20yrs on tents and bouncy castles!

 

Was called a dogleg when I was farming; showoffs used to cut small bales in half with it. Not a clever thing to let the guy working the baler see!
