sharpening chains

Not sure if I will make my self look slightly stupid but here goes.... Chains are that cheap for a 15" husky that I have become a bit lazy recently and instead of resharpening every time have just stuck a new chain on. I have loads of chains per saw now and need to do a bulk sharpening. Is there a quick set up you can have where you dont have to put chain on the saw to sharpen. I know its not exaclty time consuming to put each one back on the saw but I like saving time.

not being funny, but on those horrible wet days when the lads get back early, why not have them doing some maintenance?

you can get chain vices which can either be bolted to a work bench or stuck in a bench vice.

 

Either that or you could just sharpen it at the time and never have to worry about this problem. If its a 15" bar it won't take that long

I really don't get this, it takes less time to sharpen a 15" chain than to change it.............. and you say you like saving time???????

Yeah thats really shocking, and if you're cutting hardwoods then really you should touch up the chain in the afternoon even if you havnt hit anything, just to keep it sharp....you're wasting a lot of time and money putting a new chain on all the time:thumbdown:

Depends on whether your groundy has been using it.

 

My groundy thinks that the YEB or Cable are coming on site after we've gone and likes to dig cable laying trenches for them with my saws.

I prefer to cut most things myself, but there must be times it would be easier for yourself if he could use a saw, you could lower larger sections etc and would reduce time spent on spikes in the tree etc etc...although u do have a crane!!!

Doesn't Really Time Save Filing Chains?

 

Why not weigh all the blunt chains in for scrap and buy some more sharp ones!

 

Save wasting money on files too!
