Hello I am hoping that you guys may be able to help with a question that I have, I am currently working as a firefighter who has recently been trained in cross cutting & maintainance for the purpose of clearing & removing fallen trees etc.. As part of the training the station is looking at purchasing PPE for all those trained. We currently have a number of boots and should a call come in you 'choose' the best size.

My question is does anyone out there know of some lightweight boots (with chainsaw protection) that could be used as normal workwear boots, I have seen the Haix Protectors, which look OK but would appreciate your feedback as to their suitability for day to day use. Many thanks.

N.B if you know of any other brands, the only criteria really is that they are fairly light and black in colour.

I wear Stein Explorers most days. I usually walk around 5miles a day in them. They are lovely and comfey, black and light.

Many thanks will look into them.

if your after a cheaper pair then maybe look at the haix airpower or airpower gold, ive not tried them but where ive read they are lightweight boots.

Failing that, haix blue ridge, basic and tick all the boxes, i had a pair for a couple of years then bought my airstreams because i wanted some slippers!

My elton Hydrofells get used everyday weather it be for tree climbing ground work or landscaping, they do it all, with chainsaw protection and hold up just fine, also comfier than any normal boots i've tried and waterproof too!

Most chainsaw boots are very hard wearing and will last well, and as work boots go they are not that heavy either IMO, and many are now gore-tex lined too.

Haix seem very popular (I have used the protector pros for years), but a search through threads on the forum will reveal a broad selection of recommendations and preferences of makes from members.:001_smile:

I remember seeing some boots in a shop that had been designed by the same people design firefighters boots they might suit if you've worn similar but I can't remember the make sorry someone else might know on here mate

It wasn't haix mate but I just can't remember what they were I know it was buxtons that was selling them you could them a ring mate but if they aren't well known boots its probably because other brands are better suited I suppose mate but I'm not sure wether these boots might have also protect against fire which might suit you.

haix make a firefighting boot with chainsaw protection as do rosenbauer. Lorry the boots at buxtons were probably Jolly boots which are used by the defence fire service.
