bonfires

Hi Guys

just bending you ears for a second. ive been doing a massive dead elm clearance we have had a jcb etc on the job, weve got the biggest bonfire you have ever seen waiting to be lit.

just wanted your opinion as to best way of getting it going.

im a good fire starter under normal circumstances but this is BIG

diesel will contaminate the soil, if you have a jcb on site then get him to open up the pile, have a cardboard box full of kindling and dry papers and start a fire as usual, then just add to it, once it gets going then get the driver fill it up. Big fires not stacked right can still be a pest, if it birds nests(big bits not falling down and adding to the fire) then it will just burn itself out. But you have the right tool to lend a hand.

lets just say ive just got back in after using 4 tyres and a shed load of diesel.

the elms wood is covered in ivy and the bonfire is thesize of a massive local display bonfire maybe even bigger. so no ammount of straw and firelighters will do unless i had a artic load.

 

GOT TO GET THE HEAT THERE GUYS

i always use waste oil out of my van,woodchipper,lawn mowers etc and one more way i use on small fires it to tie old t shirts in a knot ball soak in white sprit and light

 

You burn woodchippers and lawn mowers? Wow!:sneaky2:
