no idead about the winter baffle, though will definately have a look tomorrow. the plug is definately black, not grey or brown.

i will be pulling it apart a bit tomorrow if i geta min to have a look and clean all the mentioned parts.

Winter baffle is the little plate on the right hand side of the handle, held with one screw next to the H and L jet setting screws.

Don't know about back in ol blighty but in NZ we had some problems with dodgy carbs on the 200T. I went through two after pulling the saws apart and checking fuel, filters, clutch springs etc. I also had a mate who had the same issue on his hedge trimmer although he refused to change the carb and spent a small fortune trying to find the problem. Would have cost him a couple of hundred bucks to change the carb and solve the problem.

I've got a 200 in at the dealers at the moment, gone through all the checks and it still runs dodgey, but the symptoms are that it will tick over but not rev up, which is the same symptoms as a block gauze carb filter

Has your saw or fuel can been anywhere near water? My 200t stopped working in the same way - turned out to be water in the carb which had corroded the aluminium and furred up the carb.

Condensation can form in a metal fuel can just from changes in temperature. This can lead to very fine iron oxided particulate in the fuel. These particles are smaller than the filters on the saw and will reach and therefore block the inside of the carb. Run your finger inside the lid of the metal fuel can - if it feels rough or rusty change it!

the saw gets wet a lot with the rain, also its in a none heated building so it does get the temp fluctuation.

Didnt get a chance today but i did find the winter baffle. i have taken it off loads of time in the past and never knew it had a secondary position!

will have a feel of the fuel can tomorrow, just got convince the tighter other half (businuess partner) that we should get a plastic jerry can instead.

cheers guys

my governors saw coffed every time you touched the throttle and didnt scream like ms200's do, it also cut out alot. turned out that the exuast was sotted up and the outlet gap inside was about a quarter of the size is should have been.. we cleaned it out and now it runs like a new saw... and screams as it should. if anyone trys this make sure you heat up the screws that hold the exhaust together befor trying to undo them, (or they have a habit of snapping)

Will do Josh, but it might be a while, our dealer is not known for fast turnover of repairs :001_smile:

Ed, I found the exhaust soots up with either mixing the two stroke too strong or not using a synthetic oil :thumbup1:
