after seeing on another thread an admission of hitting a boot with the saw,,, who else has done it?

I remember having a pair of boots, must have been around 2006 I think, that I DIDN'T hit with the saw (I normally get 'em in the toe caps LOL)

why would you do this, adi?

:

IMO It depends on the job. If its light reductions with a Silky, I don't see it being a problem and its probably better in lighter boots. 99% of the time, if you are using a saw near your feet, there will be a better way of getting the branch cut.

(For the record, I've climbed and used chainsaws in non chainsaw boots before, but I wouldn't recommend others try it. It up to the individual)

The most important thing to take from this experience, which AD has been kind enough to share with us, is nothing to do with boots or PPE (IMO).

The lesson to take from this is, NEVER to allow yourself to be annoyed whilst working with a chainsaw up a tree. It destroys concentration and forces mistakes.

Stay calm and stay alive and in one piece chaps.

Surely The lesson is to not cut near your feet!?!?:001_smile:

well said albedo..

it was exactly that call that caused the lapse in concentration, and then the silly cut,

as anyone that knows me would hopefully testify, i'm not in the habit of doing stupid things like that..

I agree with Ade's last post.

I am privy to the particular customer who phoned Ade, and the circumstances, so can understand how a normally very level headed and sensible guy became flustered enough to lose the edge momentarily.:001_smile:
