The fungus at the base of the tree. Any ideas I'm no good on fungi.

 

I've had a look on google at other pics of Merip and from what I remember before I spread sawdust over it looks like a lot of the other pics of merip. This would explain the failure in the way it did along with the tree being planted on old building backfill.

Think he means with enough power you can rip through to fresh timber before a split can form properly.

 

pretty much,:thumbup1: i wasnt meaning you can defy the laws of physics:laugh1:if you have a super sharp 046 cutting small limbs and branches with hard to read tensions, you can power through, as we know wind blown trees are a night mare for jamming saws

Ah right thought you had some nice new technique.

 

TBH though fast cutting through really tensioned/compressed timber isnt something I do, I've seen enough stuff whip about,explode and generally move and do what it wants so its nice and steady with me on that one.
