During the year i work part time both with the Rangers Service and on the local shooting estates. We generally use the Fastrac for ride cutting as we have a nice forestry mulcher to shred everything up including stumps. We have a massive John Deere with an American make of chipper (cant remember the name but it can take upto 18 inch diametre timber). The fuel economy in both tractors isnt brilliant but we do use them to lug heavy machinery around. We also use a feller buncher type machine when we are clear felled firs and hardwoods. Shall attempt to clean them and get some pictures of them all sparkling.

The tractor i run is big , i use a lot of fuel getting there it is 40k but i struggle to keep that speed dodging motorists pot holes children etc

Was thinking that i could run half throttle and still do 40-50 k and run over the pot holes and motorist

I did have a 40k tractor but went for a fastrac 3185 with a 65k box it pulls a timber trailer like it isnt there and there much easier to work on than normal tractors, wouldnt go for a autoshift thou better off with a smotheshift

I don't know if this is true, but, I was told that in order for any tractor to do more than 21mph on the road, it needs to have speed rated tyres, full ABS and brakes on each wheel and have suspension front and back. Was I being spun a line?

most later fastracs have abs,and they have speed rated tyres and front and back suspension, but would you need tacko to pull a trailer and white diesel i dunno

I do like the fendts most of the ones i have seen have high hours

I am looking for a light weight , 220 +hp , suspension , and 50k speed

to run a heizohack

A lot of the estates i go to have small yards access is really bad even for the tractor i have

Any suggestions ?

Dan Upton runs a huge ahwi chipper on a 930 fendt (300hp uprated to as much as they could squeeze out of it....they were nearly stalling that at times.

The 930 vario is about the best balance between compactness and power.

for the most part that is correct, with the exception of Fastrac, Unimog, and some other low production volume past/present oddities ALL tractors in the UK must not exceeded 20mph regardless of if that have 40kph/50kph/65kph gearbox ratios,

to exceed 20mph they need individual brakes on each wheel, the brakes should be a minimum of >50% braking efficiency for each wheel & cumulatively across all wheels (as per trucks & cars), hydraulic brakes that require the engine running before they can achieve 50% efficiency are forbidden, the steering MUST have a direct link so must have a steering box/rack with draglinks etc so the steering works when the engine is off (hydrostatic is forbidden), all axels must have suspension, @ >25mph lighting regulations apply as per cars and lorries, trailer can only use over-run brakes <3.5t trailers & 2-line fail-safe air brakes >3.5t as per lorry trailers.

ALL tractors including Fastrac, Unimog if wider than >2.55m <3.5m including any load or attachments are restricted to 20mph, when wider than >3.5m <4.3m are restricted to 12mph, when above 3m wide notification to the abnormal load officer (police) 24h prior is needed for each police force area or a letter of dispensation from the same officer in each force will save the need for notification, >3.5m width it should be escorted by one or more attendants.
