No worries mate, was trying to catch up with nod whilst you guys were doing the job.

We've got a big twin stemmed wild service that we're going to brace when the gear arrives from Treeworker next week.

Was the old static a bracing rod or cable Mat?

What sort of condition was it in?

Intrigued about the new system, will have a chat with nod during the week hopefully.

It was cable but it was installed in a very strange configuration. 2 other identical braces failed on the same site which cause immediate tree failure.

I was hoping to say hi at the conference last week, but didnt get the chance

Sorry can you enlighten me as I can't see how that bottom pulley has any bearing on re directing the lowering or strengthening the included union ???

Ok you have a compression fork which if I had used just the left hand side limb then even a small shock load could of caused it to tear away from the main stem! To strengthen it I not only wanted to support the top, but the base of the union need to be supported also I could of used a ratchet but used the sling and pulley instead which the pulley was then able to redirect the rigging line from the front load to a side load effectively spreading the load of the forward and side motion I got from rigging off it.

I thought the bollard would of been enough of a redirect from the rigging point but I suppose I didn't harm to have it their

Just never seen it before

One of the locals decided to help us out over the weekend by trimming a few of our street trees that were blocking his view. This despite being left a leaflet in his post box telling him that the public are not allowed to touch council trees. Unfortunately, this is an ongoing problem in Taupo.

First couple of days of freelance climbing, a chunky ash dismantle over buildings and other trees. Well impressed with my new (well second hand) 395xp. :001_smile:
