Nice pics matty.

Liked the pics of the hornbeam and the lime, shows what we have to do sometimes. As long as the tree is maintained whats the harm? Personally, I find it more paletable than felling it and planting a sapling.

 

 

I used to do more external shaping of trees. Now I only do it to fruit trees. The whole "is it topping" debate aside, shaping a tree while standing inside of it is hard work. You guys are very good at it. There are some excellent shaping job picts on this thread. How long do those trims last? I know its different tree to tree but on average?

Do you by chance have close up photographs of both sides of the top side of the tear scar on this split Oak?
