Yeah, you need a set of spikes and a lanyard to fell that high!!

You can eliminate that by (before throwing it) undercutting, then carefully topcutting (but stop short of popping it off) the limb that is holding it up in the air. The tree will collapse and the butt will be closer to the ground, in a much safer position.
