Nice pics matty.

Liked the pics of the hornbeam and the lime, shows what we have to do sometimes. As long as the tree is maintained whats the harm? Personally, I find it more paletable than felling it and planting a sapling.

I used to do more external shaping of trees. Now I only do it to fruit trees. The whole "is it topping" debate aside, shaping a tree while standing inside of it is hard work. You guys are very good at it. There are some excellent shaping job picts on this thread. How long do those trims last? I know its different tree to tree but on average?

High Scale

Do you by chance have close up photographs of both sides of the top side of the tear scar on this split Oak?

If you do or have other photographs i would very much like to see them.

If you like they could be sent off forum to [email protected].

Colin

Sorry Colin, those are all the pics I have but I will try to get down there and take some more pictures.

This Beech tree had been previously topped and cut back on the garden side, Dan and I went up it today to carry out some further carnage.

First picture shows damage probably caused by fire.

Thats a great job IMHO

I enjoy doubling up with another climber. When I was working in Sweden, we once had 5 of us working 1 tree.

FIVE!! that's got to be a record? Quick, call Norris Mcwhirter.
