Where abouts exactly and or a phone no.

I am local and always looking for a place for chippings.

Is it free dropping or is he looking for payment for it?

I got a number off a site which had loads of info on woodchips qulaites etc for selling on as a bio fuel but cant find it now. I do know that the guy i spoke to said they paid 10per ton and their trucks held 26 tones a time.

not sure what the current rates are at present though.

cheers

I had Stobart Biomass in recently to collect my chippings. I think the big Stobart arctic had a 40 cubic metre capacity, which was about 30 tonne of chip.

Stobart driver was bloody good to be able to reverse in and out of my yard, although I can't see how economical it can be to drive an arctic full of chip from surrey to the midlands for screening and then either scotland or north wales to be used in a power plant. Someone is clearly making some money somewhere along the line..

Energy gained from burning woodchip needs to be greater than...

Fuel to drive empty truck from where it is, to woodchip pile in surrey.

Fuel for Loading woodchip.

Fuel to drive to screening plant in midlands.

Energy to unload chip.

Fuel to send truck towards next destination.

Energy to scree / process woodchip.

Energy to dispose of waste / rejected woodchip.

Fuel to drive an empty truck from wherever it is to the screening plant

Energy to load it

Fuel to send it on to the powerplant (wales / scotland)

Energy to unload it

Fuel to send the truck on its way.

Energy to get the chip into the furnace.

(I may have double accounted a bit with my truck movements)

either way, I can't see it very efficent energy wise - so I guess there's a bit of govn't subsidy going on here.
