we have an oldish, but very low hours husqy 61, only used for logging, a while back i stalled it when a trunk pinched earlier than i thought, would not re start, left it a day & eventually it fired up with a little carb cleaner, was very clogged up as if flooded when it first fired, the saw has run sweet as anything for the last few months until,, last week it somehow got put back in the store on it's side, same thing again, floods everytime you try to start it, have got it running now using a sniff of carb cleaner & again it's running faultlessly!! carb has had a full re-build, plug/plug lead is good, replaced first breakdown:confused1: compression is spot on, any ideas please??

A running engine needs spark, compression and fuel - if you have compression 140psi+, and a decent fat spark, then it must be and sounds like fuel, if it is flooding then the needle valve sounds likely - if it is flooding because you are simply pulling the engine over too much with the choke on then that is different!

cheers for your replys guys, defintly not flooding due to persistant turning over,, the ol girl fires up from cold within 3 pulls, 1st pull once been started!!!! definatly a carb problem, waiting for a rainy day to have a look, interesting comment about breather, it has once made a noise when ive opened the tank cap as if a vacumn had been made, not done it since, & was close to running dry, does anyone know if the breather is built in to the cap on these?? cheers

This may be a dumb question, but if it starts within 3 pulls cold and 1 pull warm.... What is the starting problem?
