I am looking for something to forward a 24 tonne delivery from my neighbours yard about once a month. He is three doors down less than 1/4 mile door to door all on hard surface. I am thinking cheap and cheerfull as it wont be worked hard or far from home. I have a iveco 7.5 tonne with poles on side hiab with log grab no ticket offers around £1500 but its in scotland so 600 miles away so probably a non runner. I need a beast because I cant get an arctic in my drive way. I have a jd 2140 so could go the trailer and crane route. Any ideas ?

There were some forwarders in the classified a little while ago, worth a look. There are lots of people who make forwarding trailers with cranes but a 10 tonne trailer with crane is about 20 grand.

Buy an old tractor trailer, take the sides off and fit bolsters, and stick a hiab type crane on the drawbar. Run the hydraulics off the tractor, and buy a little grapple and rotator for the crane.

Not worth getting into o licensing for the amount of work you are talking about.

Maybe a 18 tonner registered for forestry it will do less than 6 miles a month on the road and be less than a 1/4 of a mile from home at all times ( unless it gets nicked ) ?

small unclassified country road concealed drives and a bit of a rat run. Lorry looks possible short body will take up less room. Because cord wood is 3 metres would get one stack on.

iused one for years never had a problem. at that distance and on those roads i wouldent worry.
