why isnt it this felling from 12ft acceptable???

so it would have pleased h&s more for 2 guys to be in a mewp all day, reaching out of a mewp, step cutting small sub 15kg pieces moving the basket to chuck into the dropzone, where more manual handeling would have had to take place.

Nowt wrong with high felling, comes in handy in the domestic enviroment :thumbup1:

As for the mewp, why do you need two men

Would there be scope in a nptc felling a tree from a mewp course, or is felling a tree off the ground just a nono?

where is the difference in knocking the top out of a tree and felling a tree? and is there a height we shouldn't fell tops out from say between 0 and 20ft? :confused1:

Felling trees at height is no problem except when they have a structural fault or a lean

sorry, couldn't resist.

love that woodland work dean! doesn't come along often enough where i am now. There is definitely room for some sort of schooling in these methods though surely? ok maybe they need to be backed up with some more detail than dadio gives but wouldn't it help, rather than just the crazed teachings on site while fueling up the saws? and obviously some experience to boot!

i dont know, i would have thought that to move the basket over the dropzone whilst holding onto the branch might be easier with 2 sets of hands-one moving one cutting and holding, im sure hse would prefer this method?

i guess i must be old skool, climbing and all that

dadio hasnt implied that this is the best way to do it, or worded anything to imply he is teaching, just videoed a straight foward job that he, an experienced tree worker, has completed. then explained in detail how he done the job.

there are plenty more videos and pictures on this site doing work far more complex than this video, which no-one needlesly picks appart or says it shouldnt be posted because some newbie might think its the only way to do things
