What else are you wanting to know?

They are pretty simple machines, and really havent got much to go wrong.

As far as i know these courses dont exist, but Arbtalk should have most bits covered- check out Dean Lofthouses latest vid about carb rmoval on a 200t for example.

Is it possible to become a qualified Stihl/Husqvarna technician without working for a dealer?

You can enroll on the Stihl courses. I did one years ago but it was at the Head office near Camberley.

Was it good? I'm sure it must have been, but how good??

Cheers, my employer is now asking for yearly proof of servicing on our saws. I.E. we have to take the saw to a dealer who services it and we give the invoice to the office as proof. Any opinions?

I dont see the need to send in saws for service if you are competent enough to service yourself.

All you are required to do is keep a service record yourself, what was serviced, what you did and when.

A service on a saw is airfilter clean, fuel tank and filter clean, oil tank clean, spark plug change, fuel filter in carb clean and settings check (Hi Lo jets with tacho) and a general check over mounts etc

Why are you "required" to keep a service record? Is it Puwer regs or soemthing? I keep a record in my head of what has happened to what and what spare parts I have, it leaves little space for much else in there but it works for me!!
